a type of food popular in a part of northeast England, consisting of a piece of meat, usually chicken, that has been covered in breadcrumbs and fried. It is then covered in béchamel (= a type of white sauce made with butter, flour, and milk) and a layer of cheese, and put under a grill so that the cheese melts.
