the Outer Hebrides (苏格兰西部离大陆较远的)外赫布里底群岛
a group of islands to the west of Scotland that together with the Inner Hebrides form the Hebrides group. The Outer Hebrides are a longer distance from the mainland (= main part) of Scotland.
The populated Outer Hebrides, or Western Isles, comprise the Isles of Lewis and Harris, North and South Uist, Benbecula, Scalpay and Barra. 有人居住的外赫布里底群岛,或称西部群岛,包括刘易斯岛和哈里斯岛、南北尤伊斯特岛、本比库拉岛、斯卡尔佩岛和巴拉岛。
